Woodworking Classes are being offered as a cooperative program with Orange Community Education & Recreation.
Instructor Bio: Kurt Klimko is a professional woodworker with more than 30 years of experience as a craftsman, artisan, and teacher. Kurt’s woodworking classes have been featured on WVIZ’s “Applause,” Cleveland Magazine, and in The Plain Dealer. Kurt started teaching woodworking classes with Orange Rec in 1994 and the classes have continued to grow ever since.
Location: All woodworking classes take place at the Orange High School (32000 Chagrin Blvd. Pepper Pike 44124) woodshop in the rear lower level of the high school, accessible from Chagrin Blvd. via Gail Allison Drive.
Note: Please bring a face mask and safety glasses with you, which must be worn inside the wood shop. Ear protection is recommended.
Woodworking Build a Counter Stool
Here is the perfect piece of furniture for a kitchen island or a beverage bar. Learn to build your counter stool from cutting the seat and legs to assembling. You will leave the class with the confidence to build more on your own. Kurt will email instructions on what to bring, so please register at least one week in advance.

Woodworking Made Simple
Kurt will take you through your project, step by step using the variety of woodworking tools available to you, including two lathes. You must purchase wood and supplies, no reclaimed, exotic or foreign lumber, please. For help with project details call Kurt at (216) 663-2744. Please be sure your project can be easily transported to and from class each week.

Woodworking for Beginners All-Day Workshop
If you’ve always wanted to try woodworking, this is your chance. You will start with basic safety, followed by a demonstration of how to properly use various hand tools and power tools. After breaking for lunch, you will return to the wood shop to work on a small project to put your knowledge to work. The limited class size will allow for plenty of individualized attention from the instructor. You will finish the day with a completed project to take home. There is a $30 materials fee payable to the instructor.

Woodworking Make a Classic Pen
Learn to use a lathe to turn a piece of wood into a beautiful set of pens. You will use unusual woods with interesting characteristics that make them unique and special. You will leave the class with a finished set of pens, perfect for gift-giving. A $20 materials fee is payable to the instructor.
