CARE Program
CARE (Communities Assisting Residential Elders) is a volunteer-supported collaborative organization that helps adults ages 60 and older maintain their independence and dignity by providing assistance with home and property projects, helping residents comfortably age in place. CARE operates under the fiscal umbrella of Community Partnership on Aging and serves seniors in ten area communities, including Bedford.
CARE is now partnering with iAssist, a youth empowerment and employment agency, to provide additional assistance to local seniors. Services may include yard cleanup, bush trimming, garage cleanouts, leaf raking, mulching, weeding, and other approved projects. CARE members may receive up to four services per calendar year. Routine lawn mowing, snow removal, and certain other services are not available.
To receive services, Bedford seniors must complete an application and provide proof of age and residency. Membership costs are determined on a case-by-case basis, with many participants receiving services free of charge.
